Risner Review

Week of October 7, 2013

Sorry for the lack of a newsletter last week!  We had a crazy week here at school and I felt like I had no free time at all.  I am hoping for a better week.J

Math-The students will learn about telling time to the nearest hour this week.  Eventually, they will learn to the nearest half-hour and quarter-hour.  Keep practicing counting at home by 10s, by 5s, by 2s, and counting down.

Letters/Reading-The students are still practicing tapping out words and spelling short words.  This week, Trick Words (Sight Words) are introduced.  The students need to know these words by memory because they cannnot be tapped out.  We will also be taking a test this week that will include spelling words using their sounds and short sentences.  Make sure your child continues to read their book at home.

Specials Schedule-Monday-Music/Gym, Tuesday-Library, Wednesday-Gym/Music, Thursday-Art, and Friday-Music/Gym.

Important Information-Please make sure your child is wearing a coat to school.  When we go out for our morning recess, some of them are complaining of being cold and they don’t have a coat to put on.  School pictures are October 8th.  Our Halloween party will be on October 25th.  If you are interested in sending in something, please the attached paper with this newsletter.  The 25th is also an Early Release Day at 1:15.  Parent-Teacher Conferences are November 6th, 7th, and 8th.  Thank you for sending your requested time paper back in.  If you haven’t, you may not get the time that is the most convenient because it is a first come first serve system.

As always, if you ever need to contact me, you can write a note, call at 419-929-8117 or email at [email protected].

Have a great week!
