2020 Superintendent's Welcome

It’s finally here! After months of planning, discussion, challenges and collaboration, we are excited to welcome students back to New London Local Schools for the 2020-2021 school year. It goes without saying that this summer break has been quite different than any other in our memory. While the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly changed the landscape of public education, it will never change our vision, guiding principles and core values – to provide the best possible atmosphere for students to learn, grow and thrive. I know that I speak on behalf of our entire staff when I say that we are ready to make this vision a reality, each and every day. There will be obstacles and there will be uncertainties. We are ready for these challenges and we will meet them head on.

2019 Superintendent's Welcome

Let me be the first to welcome our students back from a much-deserved summer vacation to the start of this new school year. Last year was one of the most successful years that our district has experienced in a long time. Although we have a rich tradition of excellence, last year will stand out as one of our best.

Providing the best educational opportunity as possible is always the main goal of our district. As the Mission statement for our Districts states:

The Mission of the New London Local Schools is to work with and unite community resources to provide continuously improving academic, extracurricular, and work-related programs designed so that all students can achieve a successful level of performance.

In reflecting on last year’s successes, it’s clear we met the mission of our District. Yet, as the Mission Statement shares, our District strives to continuously improve our programs. The District is continuing its implementation of a series of web-based platforms to enhance student learning and enrichment in Math and English. This year the Elementary will continue its “One Book, One School program. The High School is expanding its STEM Education with additional courses in its Biomedical program and the Middle School is furthering its development of student centered opportunities and offering its own STEM programs in Energy. These programs will continue to provide a more comprehensive and consistent education for our students.

In addition, New London will continue programs that we launched in previous years such as our partnership with LCCC for College Credit Plus, the Digital Academy, PikMyKids, Remind, iReady, No Red Ink, and Google Apps for Education, to name a few.

When students arrive on August 26th for class, they will be welcomed into technology rich learning environments. We are continuing our digital learning program that provided Chromebooks for all NL students in grades 3rd through 12th. Our School Nurse, Katie Redmond will continue to provide top notch care for our students. Our Library redesign continues to provide a wealth of print books and electronic information for our students in an inviting and modern space. Finally, new security upgrades will to our school building will provide a safe and secure learning environment for both our students and staff.

Finally, I am proud to share that our District was selected to participate in the Rural Education Consortium through Harvard University.  This collection of 50 rural districts across Ohio and New York will use data to identify needs in 3 key areas:  Truancy, College Preparedness, and College Success.  Once the data analysis is complete we will be able to collaborate with member districts to implement programs to better support our students.

On behalf of the teachers, staff, and administration we are excited to start a new school year and build on the success of this past year. If you have any questions regarding anything associated with New London Local Schools, please contact my office via email or phone.
